Black Friday.

I’ve been up since 4am and didn’t get my after-shopping nap due to ill-planned Mountain Dew intake.

I give you last year’s Post-Black Friday… ah, post. Believe me, you want to click that. I believe I just proved anything is going to be an improvement over this-here cop-out, poseur, wannabe… ah… screwit. Post.

Oh, and turns out, Black Friday? Not so fun when you’re flying solo. All the other girlfriends needed to start at Kohl’s, but I had to start at Toys R Us to nab an essential, top-of-the-list item for Dino. I missed them.

On the upside, this year; spent much much less, but I charged NOTHING. I shredded my credit cards earlier this year in a desperate, yet well-meaning attempt at feeling like I was in more control of the situation then the cards were. I was kind of wallowing in self-pity last night over the small amount I had to spend on the boys. But, Hunky helped me realize that at the end of the day, a lot of kids don’t even get $40 each spent on them. And that doesn’t mean I failed them. There will be more Christmases.

I’m exhausted. I’m going to go back to watching House Season Three, which I got for $13.98, thankyouverymuch. But I’ll probably be asleep in front of it about ten minutes from now.

Before I do, though, I’ll make sure that I say a prayer for the family of an employee killed as a WaImart opened at 5am this morning. It makes my heart hurt to think of the pain they’re going through, and what the holidays will remind them of for the rest of their lives.

  1. I hope to be back in full force in 2009 after a 2 year break from BF shopping. Oddly enough I too miss the 3 am wakeups, downing the can of dew and standing in fridgid temps with other crazies all for that super awesome deal!!!!

  2. I didn’t make it out till 9am and wandered through the toy asle. 1. I hate Walmart 2. I hate the angry people at Walmart that forget the entire meaning of Christmas. I cut up my credit cards too and had that same “but the children!” conversation with Bill. To make us feel better we talked his family into adopting another family rather than do a gift exchange. I am so thankful for my small piece of happiness.
